7th International Short Tourism Film Festival Amorgos – The challenge of Tourism for Social Economy
The International Short Tourism Film Festival of Amorgos is an annual 4-day event organized by the Cultural Association of Tholaria – Amorgos and Aegialis Hotel & Spa and held during the works of the YPERIA International Convention on Culture and Tourism in Aegiali, Amorgos Island, Greece.
It was established in 2010 by the Cultural Association of Tholaria – Aegiali on the occasion of the 8th YPERIA International Convention on Culture and Tourism.
The main goal of the Festival is to set up an international platform encouraging global tourism through audio-visual media. Every year, the best films, documentaries and activities that contribute to the development of domestic and foreign tourism and the implementation of green practices are nominated for an award. Tourism films are a good opportunity to address important issues and highlight the cultural and environmental richness of a place.
This year, the Festival is especially dedicated to the challenge of tourism to the social economy, exploring the opportunities but also the dangers that touristic development presents for the economy, particularly of smaller communities.
This initiative is implemented through the Operational Program “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning” and is co-financed by the European Union (European Social Fund) and Greek national funds.
The Festival aims:
- To contribute to the development of domestic (particularly on Amorgos and the Cyclades islands) and foreign tourism.
- To popularize and encourage the implementation of green practices in tourism driven by the need for social responsibility and sustainable development.
- To inform about the different aspects of touristic development and to promote the opportunities it presents to the social economy
- To encourage short film production and foster a spirit of friendship and cooperation among producers from around the world.
