This year, the Festival is especially dedicated to the challenge of tourism for the social economy, exploring the opportunities but also the dangers that touristic development presents for the economy, particularly of smaller communities. It takes a look at successful approaches to sustainable economic development of smaller or marginal communities, as a response to increasing touristic flows in their region.

The special tribute “The challenge of tourism for social economy” is implemented through the Operational Program “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning” and is co-financed by the European Union (European Social Fund) and Greek national funds.

During the Convention YPERIA, participants will discover the island of Amorgos, walk the ancient trails, collect aromatic herbs from the mountains, visit the distillery of essential oils, taste local products, attend traditional celebrations and see the work of various artists through exhibitions.

All evening screenings and lectures are open to the public so that the inhabitants of Amorgos as well as visitors have the chance to participate and draw information on current developments in the areas of culture and tourism.
